With a heritage that spans over 150 years, the bank has built a reputation for stability, innovation and a strong commitment to helping customers and economies thrive. In India, HSBC combines global expertise with local market knowledge, offering a diverse range of products from retail banking to corporate finance. The company invests heavily in technology and data, positioning itself as a forward‑looking employer that encourages continuous learning, collaboration and a culture of inclusion.
The Analyst – Data Engineering role sits within the Valuations and Analytics Group of Product Control, a global team that ensures fair‑value calculations for traded instruments are accurate, compliant and transparent. As an Analyst, you will be part of a quantitative‑focused environment that works closely with Front Office quants, Finance IT and Market Risk teams. Your primary mission will be to design, develop and maintain automated data pipelines and analytical tools that support product control, risk management and regulatory reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Build and maintain automated solutions using Python, SQL and VBA to improve control and analytical processes.
2. Develop micro‑services and APIs that feed standardized data to various Product Control stakeholders.
3. Collaborate with the Technology department for smooth integration, deployment and version control (Git, Jira).
4. Provide day‑to‑day support to Product Control users and act as a bridge between engineering and business teams.
5. Lead projects that standardise, streamline and automate data workflows across Front Office, Independent Model Review, Middle Office and Market Risk.
6. Investigate short‑term data issues and propose strategic, innovative solutions for trade data analysis and management.
7. Participate in the development of a Citizen Developer framework to enable low‑code reuse of components.
8. Conduct testing, documentation and release management for SQL‑based solutions.
9. Liaise with finance, risk and technology stakeholders to ensure regulatory and business requirements are fully satisfied.
10. Continuously monitor and improve data quality, performance and scalability of the analytics platform.
The tech stack revolves around Python (pandas, OOP), SQL, VBA, Git, Jira and exposure to micro‑service architectures. HSBC offers a clear growth path: analysts can progress to senior analyst, lead analyst and eventually to product control or data engineering manager roles, with opportunities to move across geographies and business lines. Joining HSBC means working in a globally recognised brand, gaining exposure to complex financial products, and benefiting from robust learning programmes, mentorship and a supportive work‑life balance. The hybrid work model allows flexibility while fostering collaboration in a high‑impact environment.
