📋 About the Role
HSBC is one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations, operating in 64 countries and territories. With a heritage spanning more than 150 years, the bank has built a strong reputation for stability, innovation and a client‑centric approach. In India, HSBC combines global best practices with local market insight, offering a diverse portfolio of services ranging from retail banking to corporate finance and capital markets. The organisation places a high emphasis on technology and data, seeing them as key enablers for future growth and regulatory compliance. The Analyst‑Data Engineering role sits within the Valuations and Analytics Group of Product Control, a global team that ensures accurate fair‑value calculations for traded instruments. The Bangalore team works closely with counterparts in London, Kraków, Paris and other locations, providing quantitative support, building automation tools and maintaining the data pipelines that feed critical financial models. This position is ideal for fresh graduates with a strong programming foundation who are eager to apply their skills in a high‑impact, finance‑driven environment. Key responsibilities include: 1. Designing, developing and maintaining automated solutions using Python, SQL and VBA to streamline control and analytical processes. 2. Building and enhancing micro‑service‑based infrastructure that supports product‑control data delivery. 3. Collaborating with the Technology department for seamless integration and deployment of data services. 4. Providing day‑to‑day support to Product Control users and fostering strong relationships between engineering and business teams. 5. Translating business and regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions. 6. Leading projects that standardise, streamline and automate data workflows across Front Office, Product Control, Independent Model Review, Middle Office and Market Risk Management. 7. Conducting trade‑data analysis, troubleshooting short‑term issues and delivering innovative long‑term solutions. 8. Coordinating development efforts across the PC Analytics community and ensuring adherence to coding standards (Git, Jira, TDD). 9. Contributing to the Citizen Developer framework, enabling reusable components for non‑technical users. 10. Documenting solutions and providing knowledge‑transfer sessions for stakeholders. The tech stack revolves around Python (pandas, OOP), SQL, VBA, Git, Jira and exposure to micro‑service architectures. Candidates will gain deep exposure to financial data, valuation concepts and regulatory frameworks, positioning them for rapid career progression into senior data engineering, quantitative analyst or product‑control leadership roles. HSBC offers structured learning programs, mentorship, and clear promotion pathways, making it an attractive destination for ambitious engineers who want to blend technology with finance. Joining HSBC means being part of a globally recognised brand that values diversity, continuous learning and a balanced work‑life environment.
