Amazon is a global e‑commerce and technology leader that operates in more than 20 countries, serving millions of customers daily. Founded in 1994, the company has expanded from an online bookstore to a diversified ecosystem that includes cloud computing (AWS), digital streaming, AI‑driven devices, and a vast logistics network. Amazon’s culture is built on its four leadership principles – Customer Obsession, Ownership, Invent and Simplify, and Bias for Action – which drive relentless innovation and operational excellence. In India, Amazon employs over 100,000 people across retail, operations, technology, and corporate functions, offering a fast‑paced environment where fresh talent can grow quickly.
The Program Specialist role sits within the Network Control Center (NCC) – the nerve centre that monitors Amazon’s global network in real time. The Real‑Time Remedies Execution (RTRE) team acts as a bridge between recovery teams, business units, and customers, ensuring large‑scale incidents are resolved before they impact the customer journey. As a Program Specialist, you will own the end‑to‑end execution of bulk recovery actions for Direct‑to‑Customer (D2) accounts, validate data, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and craft customer‑facing communications in more than 20 languages. You will also identify process gaps, propose improvements, and help shape SOPs that keep Amazon’s service reliability at world‑class levels.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Drive bulk recovery actions such as refunds, cancellations, and push notifications for millions of D2 customers.
2. Validate large data sets, perform quality checks, and ensure accuracy before execution.
3. Publish customer‑facing mass communications, independently assessing situations and choosing the most customer‑centric approach.
4. Manage high‑severity incidents by collaborating cross‑functionally with product, analytics, and recovery teams.
5. Serve as liaison between business analysts, product owners, and recovery stakeholders to align tooling and data requirements.
6. Execute mitigation actions using internal tools while maintaining rigorous quality standards.
7. Plan, prioritize, and deliver team projects, balancing day‑to‑day operations with longer‑term improvement initiatives.
8. Identify process improvement opportunities, draft proposals, and update SOPs after approval.
9. Maintain stakeholder relationships, ensuring clear communication and timely updates.
10. Contribute to NCC’s broader mission of proactive incident detection and resolution.
Tech stack & tools: Advanced Excel (pivot tables, array formulas), MS Word, PowerPoint, Access, internal Amazon dashboards, AWS data services, and proprietary incident‑management platforms. The role offers a clear growth path – from Program Specialist to Senior Specialist, then to Program Manager or Operations Lead, with opportunities to move into analytics, product, or customer experience domains. Joining Amazon means exposure to cutting‑edge processes, a culture that rewards data‑driven decision making, and a platform to build a high‑impact career while helping millions of customers worldwide.
