📋 About the Role
Honeywell Technologies is a global leader in automation and industrial safety solutions, with a heritage of more than a century of innovation. In India, Honeywell operates across multiple verticals including building technologies, process solutions, and safety systems, employing over 50,000 professionals worldwide. The company’s Industrial Safety division focuses on protecting critical infrastructure such as petrochemical plants, oil refineries, and boiler rooms through advanced gas and flame detection products. By leveraging cutting‑edge sensor technology, embedded intelligence, and robust safety standards, Honeywell helps customers mitigate risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and safeguard lives.
The role of Embedded Engineer I is positioned within the Industrial Safety Engineering group, where you will contribute to the design and development of next‑generation safety‑critical devices. You will work on fixed‑gas and flame detection sensor solutions, developing firmware for Cortex‑M3/M4 microcontrollers, creating FPGA‑based data‑acquisition pipelines, and supporting laser driver hardware. The position offers exposure to functional safety standards such as IEC 61508 SIL‑2 and EN 60079‑29‑1, providing a solid foundation for a career in safety‑critical embedded systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, and test embedded firmware for ARM Cortex‑M3/M4 platforms using IAR, Eclipse, or MPLAB toolchains.
2. Implement and validate FPGA modules (VHDL/Verilog) for high‑speed sensor data capture, filtering, and real‑time signal processing.
3. Create and maintain communication drivers for SPI, I2C, watchdog timers, and hardware timers.
4. Develop automated unit, integration, and system test frameworks to ensure high test coverage and functional safety compliance.
5. Support laser driver development, including current/temperature control loops, modulation, and calibration routines.
6. Collaborate with optical and spectroscopy teams to translate laser spectroscopy requirements into firmware and FPGA logic.
7. Produce technical documentation, progress reports, and validation reports for internal and external audits.
8. Participate in proof‑of‑concept projects, FPGA/SoC bring‑up, and high‑speed data acquisition software development.
9. Perform statistical analysis of sensor data using MATLAB/Excel to validate performance against specifications.
10. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, code reviews, and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
Tech Stack: C, C++, Python, ARM Cortex‑M3/M4, IAR Embedded Workbench, Eclipse, MPLAB, SPI/I2C, VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog, Xilinx/Intel FPGA tools, MATLAB, Excel, Signal Processing (FFT, filtering), IEC 61508 safety standards.
Growth Path: Starting as an Embedded Engineer I, you can progress to Senior Engineer, Technical Lead, and eventually Architecture or Safety‑Critical Systems Manager, with opportunities to work on global projects and cross‑functional teams.
Why Join Honeywell: You will be part of a world‑renowned organization that values safety, innovation, and employee development. The role offers hands‑on experience with cutting‑edge hardware, exposure to international safety standards, and a clear career trajectory within a supportive, collaborative environment.
