📋 About the Role
Eaton is a global leader in intelligent power management, delivering solutions that protect the environment and improve quality of life across data centers, utilities, industrial plants, commercial buildings, aerospace, and mobility sectors. Founded in 1911, the company has grown into a $25 billion enterprise operating in more than 160 countries. Its Indian arm, Eaton Electric India, follows the same commitment to sustainability, innovation and ethical business practices, offering a vibrant ecosystem where fresh engineering talent can contribute to real‑world power challenges. The culture emphasizes continuous learning, cross‑functional collaboration, and a strong focus on safety and compliance, making it an attractive destination for recent graduates seeking a solid engineering foundation.
As a Graduate Trainee Engineer (later Associate Engineer) you will join Eaton’s Research & Development Engineering department in Chennai. The 12‑month structured training programme is designed to rotate you across product development, value engineering, and innovation projects spanning electronics, embedded systems, and mechanical design. You will work under senior mentors, gain exposure to global standards such as UL and IEC, and actively participate in concept creation, prototyping, testing, and documentation. By the end of the programme you are expected to have a holistic view of the product lifecycle and be ready to take on independent responsibilities as an Associate Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in designing electrical/electronic components, mechanical parts, and embedded system modules.
2. Support CAD modelling (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and schematic creation using tools like Altium.
3. Conduct simulation and analysis to validate design choices.
4. Participate in concept development, rapid prototyping, and functional validation.
5. Prepare and maintain engineering documentation – design reports, BOMs, compliance checklists, and test procedures.
6. Record test results, perform root‑cause analysis, and suggest corrective actions.
7. Collaborate with global RDE, certification, manufacturing, and supply‑chain teams.
8. Ensure designs meet industry standards (UL, IEC) and internal quality processes.
9. Contribute to technical reviews, cost‑out initiatives, and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
10. Continuously upgrade technical skills through internal training and external study resources.
Tech Stack: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Altium Designer, MATLAB/Simulink, basic C/C++ for embedded firmware, and familiarity with compliance tools.
Growth Path: Successful trainees transition to Associate Engineer, followed by opportunities to become Senior Engineer, Project Lead, or Specialist in Power Management Solutions. Eaton encourages internal mobility, certifications, and leadership development programs.
Why Join Eaton: You will work on cutting‑edge power solutions that impact critical infrastructure, receive mentorship from seasoned engineers, and benefit from a global brand known for stability, competitive compensation, and a clear career trajectory. The structured training, exposure to international standards, and a collaborative culture make Eaton an ideal launchpad for a rewarding engineering career.
