The Monitoring Engineer (L1) role is an entry‑level position designed for fresh engineering graduates who are eager to start a career in IT operations and infrastructure monitoring. As a Monitoring Engineer, you will be part of the Operations Center, responsible for ensuring the health, performance, and availability of critical applications and services. You will work closely with senior engineers, developers, and client teams to proactively detect issues, troubleshoot incidents, and contribute to the improvement of monitoring processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Continuously monitor servers, network devices, databases, and applications using tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, Grafana, or Splunk.
2. Analyze alerts, investigate root causes, and perform first‑level troubleshooting to resolve incidents.
3. Escalate complex problems to senior engineers with detailed incident reports.
4. Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and documentation for monitoring metrics.
5. Participate in on‑call rotations to provide 24/7 support for production environments.
6. Assist in the configuration and fine‑tuning of monitoring thresholds and policies.
7. Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to implement monitoring for new services.
8. Perform routine health checks, log analysis, and capacity planning activities.
9. Contribute to knowledge‑base articles and standard operating procedures.
10. Stay updated with emerging monitoring technologies and suggest improvements.
Tech Stack: Linux/Unix operating systems, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP), scripting languages (Python, Bash), SQL, monitoring platforms (Nagios, Zabbix, Grafana, Splunk), basic cloud concepts (AWS/Azure).
