The role of Desktop Support Engineer is pivotal in ensuring that the day‑to‑day computing environment of the company’s internal teams and client sites runs smoothly. As a fresher, you will be the first point of contact for hardware, software, and network issues, providing timely resolutions that keep business operations uninterrupted. You will work closely with senior engineers, the IT operations team, and external vendors, gaining exposure to a wide array of enterprise‑grade tools and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Respond to tickets raised via ServiceNow or other ticketing platforms within defined SLAs.
2. Diagnose and resolve hardware failures, peripheral issues, and operating system glitches on Windows 10/11 workstations.
3. Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies in Active Directory and Azure AD.
4. Install, configure, and update standard software suites such as Microsoft Office 365, antivirus, and VPN clients.
5. Perform routine system health checks, patch management, and backup verification.
6. Assist in setting up and maintaining video‑conferencing equipment and peripheral devices.
7. Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, and knowledge‑base articles for future reference.
8. Collaborate with network teams to troubleshoot connectivity problems and Wi‑Fi issues.
9. Participate in on‑call rotation for after‑hours support as needed.
10. Provide end‑user training on best practices for security and efficient system usage.
Tech Stack: Windows 10/11, Active Directory, Azure AD, Office 365, ServiceNow, SCCM, basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), remote desktop tools, and standard hardware troubleshooting.
Growth Path: Starting as a Desktop Support Engineer, high performers can progress to Senior Desktop Engineer, then to IT Operations Lead, and eventually move into specialized roles such as System Administrator, Cloud Support Engineer, or IT Service Manager.
