📋 About the Role
Honeywell Technologies is a global pure‑play automation leader with a heritage of delivering mission‑critical solutions across building, industrial and process sectors. With more than 50,000 employees worldwide, Honeywell combines deep domain expertise with data‑driven intelligence to drive the transition from automation to autonomy. In India, the company operates cutting‑edge R&D centres that focus on safety, energy efficiency and digital transformation for heavy‑industry customers.
The Industrial Safety division safeguards critical infrastructure by providing advanced gas and flame detection systems. These products protect plants, refineries and boiler rooms from hazardous leaks, ensuring safety for people, assets and the environment. The division continuously innovates with laser‑based spectroscopy, high‑speed data acquisition and robust embedded control to meet stringent functional‑safety standards such as IEC 61508 SIL‑2 and EN 60079‑29‑1.
**Role Summary**
As an Embedded Engineer I, you will join a multidisciplinary team that designs next‑generation safety‑critical sensors and controllers. You will be responsible for developing firmware, FPGA logic and test frameworks that enable reliable, real‑time detection of gases and flames. The role offers exposure to both hardware bring‑up and high‑level algorithm implementation, making it an ideal launchpad for a career in embedded systems and safety‑critical engineering.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Design, develop and validate embedded software for Cortex‑M3/M4 platforms using C/C++ and Python.
2. Implement and verify FPGA‑based data‑acquisition blocks for high‑speed ADCs, including timing control, filtering and DMA streaming.
3. Create laser driver firmware covering current, temperature (TEC) control, modulation and protection features.
4. Develop automated unit, integration and system test suites; analyse results and drive bug‑fix cycles.
5. Collaborate with optical‑spectroscopy teams to translate laser‑spectroscopy requirements into firmware and control algorithms.
6. Produce technical documentation, progress reports and proof‑of‑concept demos for internal stakeholders.
7. Participate in functional‑safety reviews to ensure compliance with IEC 61508 and related standards.
8. Support FPGA/SoC bring‑up, hardware debugging with logic analyzers and performance tuning.
9. Conduct statistical analysis of sensor data using MATLAB/Excel to validate detection algorithms.
10. Mentor junior interns and contribute to knowledge‑sharing sessions within the group.
**Tech Stack**: C, C++, Python, ARM Cortex‑M3/M4, IAR Embedded Workbench, Eclipse, MPLAB, SPI/I2C/WDT/Timer, MATLAB, Excel, VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog, Xilinx/Altera FPGA tools, FFT, signal‑processing libraries.
**Growth Path**: Starting as Embedded Engineer I, you can progress to Embedded Engineer II, Senior Engineer, and eventually Technical Lead or Project Manager, with opportunities to move into safety‑critical system architecture or product management.
**Why Join Honeywell?** The company offers a stable, innovation‑driven environment, exposure to global safety standards, and a clear career ladder. You will work on products that have a tangible impact on industrial safety while gaining hands‑on experience with cutting‑edge hardware and software tools.
