The role of Software Engineering Specialist is designed for recent post‑graduate engineers who have a solid grounding in computer science fundamentals and a passion for building reliable, scalable software. As a member of the software engineering team, you will be involved end‑to‑end in the product lifecycle – from gathering requirements and drafting technical design, to writing clean code, integrating web services, performing unit and integration testing, and supporting production deployments. You will collaborate with system engineers, front‑end developers and product managers to deliver features that power GE’s healthcare platforms across cloud, edge and on‑premise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality software applications and services.
2. Write clean, modular code in Java/Python/C++ following coding standards.
3. Participate in all phases of the SDLC – requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing, and documentation.
4. Develop and consume RESTful web services and write efficient SQL queries for data access.
5. Conduct code reviews, unit testing and contribute to continuous integration pipelines.
6. Analyse performance bottlenecks and implement optimisation strategies for scalability.
7. Apply Agile/Lean methodologies, attend sprint planning and daily stand‑ups.
8. Ensure software security best practices and compliance with regulatory standards.
9. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot production issues and deliver patches.
10. Contribute ideas for process improvement and stay updated with emerging technologies.
Tech Stack: Java, Python, C++, REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL, Git, Jenkins/CI‑CD, Docker, Kubernetes (basic exposure), Agile tools (Jira), Linux environment.
Growth Path: Starting as a Software Engineering Specialist, you can progress to Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, and eventually to Architecture or Product Management roles, with opportunities to work on global GE HealthCare projects and gain exposure to AI‑driven healthcare solutions.
Why Join GE HealthCare? You will work on mission‑critical healthcare software that saves lives, receive mentorship from industry veterans, and benefit from a culture that encourages continuous learning, diversity and work‑life balance.
