The role of Backend Engineer, AS is situated within the Global Financial Crime Intelligence Unit (GFCIU) of the Anti‑Financial Crime (AFC) department. This team is responsible for building and maintaining platforms that detect, prevent and mitigate financial crime, ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards worldwide. As a backend engineer, you will join an agile Scrum team that delivers high‑impact features for the AFC business, working with cutting‑edge Java technologies and cloud‑native deployment models. Key responsibilities include: 1. Design, develop and maintain high‑performance Java micro‑services using Java 17, Spring Boot and Hibernate. 2. Build and expose RESTful APIs that integrate with internal and external systems. 3. Write unit tests with JUnit and ensure code quality through code reviews and static analysis. 4. Optimize SQL queries and database schemas in Oracle/SQL Server for performance and scalability. 5. Contribute to architectural discussions around event‑driven designs, micro‑service communication and container orchestration. 8.
