📋 About the Role
Cisco is a global leader in networking, security, and collaboration technologies, with a legacy of over 40 years of innovation. Headquartered in San Jose, California, Cisco operates in more than 100 countries and employs hundreds of thousands of engineers, researchers, and professionals. In India, Cisco has a strong presence across major tech hubs, offering cutting‑edge solutions for enterprises, service providers, and the emerging AI‑driven market. The company’s culture emphasizes continuous learning, diversity, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the digital world.
The Test Development Engineer role sits within Cisco’s Product Operations, specifically the Manufacturing Test Development team. This team bridges the gap between design engineering and large‑scale manufacturing, ensuring that high‑end routers—especially the AI‑optimized hyper‑scaler platforms—are launched with flawless quality and efficiency. As a fresh graduate or early‑career professional, you will be immersed in a fast‑paced environment where hardware, software, and supply‑chain teams collaborate across time zones to bring next‑generation products to market.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Designing end‑to‑end test strategies for new router platforms, from Design for Testability (DFT) assessments to mass‑production readiness.
2. Developing and maintaining Python‑based automated functional test scripts for board‑level and system‑level validation.
3. Analyzing test data to improve test capacity, yield, and overall product quality.
4. Acting as the primary point of contact for product failure analysis and fault isolation, guiding debug activities at component and system levels.
5. Coordinating with global contract manufacturers to deploy test processes and ensure consistent test coverage.
6. Supporting prototype builds and production ramp‑up activities, providing rapid troubleshooting and documentation.
7. Collaborating with hardware, firmware, and software teams to integrate test hooks and improve testability of future designs.
8. Preparing technical reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.
9. Continuously researching emerging test automation tools and data‑analytics techniques to keep Cisco’s testing framework state‑of‑the‑art.
10. Mentoring junior engineers and interns on test development best practices.
The tech stack revolves around Python, data‑analytics libraries (Pandas, NumPy), version‑control (Git), hardware communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART), and test equipment automation (e.g., LabVIEW, TestStand). Cisco offers a clear growth path: engineers can progress to Senior Test Engineer, Test Lead, or move into broader product‑operations or hardware‑design roles. Joining Cisco means access to world‑class mentorship, global exposure, and the chance to work on products that power the internet’s backbone. The company’s commitment to innovation, inclusive culture, and strong learning resources make it an ideal launchpad for ambitious engineers.
