With a heritage spanning more than a century, the company combines the engineering excellence of Hitachi with deep energy expertise to drive the transition to a sustainable, low‑carbon future. Headquartered in Switzerland, Hitachi Energy operates in over 140 countries, employs more than 56,000 professionals and generates roughly $20 billion in revenue. The organisation is renowned for its innovative high‑voltage direct current (HVDC) technology, smart grid solutions and a strong commitment to safety, integrity and environmental stewardship. The role of Associate Project Engineer – Cyber Security is positioned within the Mission Critical Telecommunication Solutions (MCS) team. As a fresher‑level engineer, you will be responsible for adapting HVDC cyber‑security measures for SCADA and HMI systems, developing secure network architectures, and supporting global projects through testing, issue resolution and stakeholder coordination. This position offers a unique blend of hands‑on technical work and exposure to large‑scale power infrastructure projects, making it an ideal launchpad for a career in industrial cyber‑security. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Design and develop secured network architecture for SCADA systems with advanced cyber‑security features. 2. Prepare and execute test case scenarios, participate in Factory Site Acceptance Tests (FST) and troubleshoot cyber‑security related issues. 3. Coordinate with cross‑functional stakeholders to optimise cyber‑security solutions for HVDC projects. 4. Monitor, validate and apply third‑party security patches to ensure system reliability. 5. Implement intrusion detection systems (both internal and external) and manage back‑door controls for SCADA networks. 6. Conduct technical audits of SCADA devices, networks and connected infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities. 7. Perform physical security surveys of remote sites linked to the SCADA network and recommend mitigation measures. 8. Manage backup, imaging and patch management for servers and workstations. 9. Ensure compliance with external regulations and internal policies related to cyber‑security. 10. Document architecture, functional descriptions and provide market feedback to product management and R&D. **Tech Stack**: HVDC systems, SCADA/HMI, IEC/IEEE standards, TCP/IP networking, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, C/C++, Python (for scripting), MS Office suite. **Growth Path**: Starting as an Associate Project Engineer, you can progress to Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, and eventually to roles such as Cyber‑Security Architect or Project Manager within Hitachi Energy’s global grid solutions business. **Why Join Hitachi Energy?** The company offers exposure to cutting‑edge energy infrastructure, a collaborative multicultural environment, and strong mentorship programs. Employees benefit from continuous learning opportunities, competitive compensation, and a clear focus on safety and sustainability, aligning personal growth with a purpose‑driven mission.
