The Analyst – Consulting Implementation role sits within KPMG’s Cyber Security practice, specifically the Security Operations Centre (SOC). As a fresh graduate or early‑career professional, you will be the front‑line defender, monitoring security events, hunting threats, and ensuring that incident response processes run smoothly. You will work closely with senior analysts, incident managers, and client teams to translate security alerts into actionable insights and help improve the overall security posture of KPMG’s clients. Key responsibilities include: 1. Actively monitor, analyse, and escalate SIEM alerts using Azure Sentinel, RSA, Splunk or LogRhythm. 2. Conduct email protection and malware analysis, including phishing investigations for financial institutions. 3. Provide inputs for proactive content fine‑tuning and use‑case enablement within the SIEM platform. 4. Perform threat‑hunting activities on network flow, user behaviour and threat‑intelligence feeds. 5. Triage incidents, assign them to appropriate owners, and follow playbook‑driven response procedures. 6. Document logs (HTTP, SMTP, network) and assist in root‑cause analysis under guidance. 7. Record process deviations in tracking tools, generate trend reports, and recommend improvements. 8. Support quality‑assessment activities across multiple SOC verticals and act as a QA touchpoint during critical incidents. 9. Generate performance‑enhancement recommendations for personnel based on observed metrics. 10. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment with SOC processes and rapid detection/prevention of security breaches. The tech stack revolves around Azure Sentinel, Python scripting, Windows Active Directory, Microsoft Defender suite, and cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS. Familiarity with Microsoft productivity tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and basic analytics concepts is essential. Growth path: Analysts typically progress to Senior Analyst, then to SOC Lead, and eventually to Manager or Director within the Advisory practice, gaining exposure to larger client engagements and strategic security projects.
