Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is a global edge‑to‑cloud leader that helps organisations transform their IT landscape by delivering innovative solutions across compute, storage, networking, and services. With a presence in more than 150 countries, HPE combines cutting‑edge technology with a culture of collaboration, sustainability and inclusion. The company’s mission is to accelerate the digital transformation of its customers, enabling them to turn data into actionable insights and drive business outcomes. HPE’s commitment to continuous learning, diversity and a "force for good" mindset makes it an attractive destination for fresh engineering talent. The role of Software Engineer I is an entry‑level, full‑time position based at the HPE Bengaluru campus. The position is designed as an onsite role where the candidate will work closely with senior engineers, product managers and external development partners to design, develop, test and maintain software components that power HPE’s portfolio of edge‑to‑cloud solutions. As a new graduate, you will be mentored, given ownership of small modules, and gradually take on more complex features as you grow. Key Responsibilities: 1. Write clean, maintainable code for enhancements, bug fixes and new features across operating systems, compilers, networking utilities and cloud‑native tools. 2. Execute test plans, log defects and participate in debugging sessions to ensure high‑quality releases. 3. Collaborate with internal and outsourced development teams to understand system design and integration points. 4. Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback and adopt best practices. 5. Contribute to documentation of design decisions, APIs and deployment procedures. 6. Assist in performance profiling and optimisation of software modules. 7. Support continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI‑CD) pipelines and automation scripts. 8. Stay updated with emerging technologies such as micro‑services, containerisation and cloud architectures. 9. Engage in agile ceremonies – sprint planning, stand‑ups and retrospectives. 10. Proactively identify improvement opportunities in the development lifecycle. Tech Stack: C/C++, Java, Python, Go, Linux/Unix environments, RESTful APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Jenkins, and basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP). The role also values familiarity with networking protocols, distributed computing concepts and security‑first mindset. Growth Path: Starting as a Software Engineer I, high performers can progress to Software Engineer II, Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer and eventually Architecture or Management tracks within 3‑5 years, supported by HPE’s robust learning programs, certifications and internal mobility. Why Join HPE? You will be part of a world‑renowned technology leader that invests heavily in employee development, offers competitive compensation, comprehensive health benefits and a flexible work environment. The inclusive culture encourages innovation, and you will have the chance to work on products that impact millions of users globally. This role provides a solid foundation for a long‑term career in software engineering, with exposure to cutting‑edge technologies and a clear roadmap for advancement.
