The role of Embedded Engineer I is designed for fresh graduates or candidates with up to three years of experience in electronics and embedded system design. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that develops firmware, drivers and control algorithms for laser‑based optical sensing platforms used in gas detection, environmental monitoring and industrial automation. The position offers exposure to cutting‑edge hardware, real‑time operating systems and high‑speed data acquisition pipelines, providing a solid foundation for a career in embedded and signal‑processing engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and test firmware for Cortex‑M3/M4 and ARM‑V7 microcontrollers using IAR, Eclipse or MPLAB toolchains.
- Implement and validate wired communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, watchdog timers and hardware timers.
- Develop laser driver circuits, including current regulation, TEC temperature control, modulation and protection mechanisms.
- Perform statistical analysis of sensor data using Excel, MATLAB or Minitab to validate performance against specifications.
- Collaborate with optical engineers to acquire interferometric signals, conduct spectral analysis and calibrate gas absorption measurements.
- Contribute to FPGA‑based data‑acquisition modules, handling high‑speed ADC interfacing, DMA streaming and real‑time processing.
- Write and maintain technical documentation, test plans and progress reports for cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Participate in code reviews, hardware debugging with logic analyzers and system integration activities.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies in signal processing, machine learning for sensor data and embedded security.
- Support lab‑based validation and field trials of electro‑optical systems.
Tech Stack: C, C++, Python, ARM Cortex‑M3/M4, IAR Embedded Workbench, Eclipse, MPLAB, SPI/I2C, MATLAB, Excel, FPGA (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog), high‑speed ADC, DMA, signal‑processing libraries (FFT, filtering).
Growth Path: Successful engineers can progress to Senior Embedded Engineer, System Architect, or Technical Lead roles within 2‑4 years, with opportunities to move into product management or R&D leadership positions. Honeywell’s global footprint also enables cross‑location rotations and exposure to diverse industry verticals.
Why Join Honeywell: You will work on mission‑critical, real‑world products that improve safety and sustainability. The company offers structured mentorship, continuous learning programs, and a culture that rewards innovation.
