📋 About the Role
American Express, a global leader in payment and travel solutions, has been empowering individuals and businesses for over 175 years. With a presence in more than 130 countries, the company is known for its strong culture of innovation, customer centricity, and a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion. Employees benefit from a collaborative environment, robust learning platforms, and a clear focus on personal and professional growth. The firm’s Indian operations, especially in Gurgaon, serve as a strategic hub for technology, analytics, and compliance functions, offering fresh talent a chance to work on high‑impact projects that influence global decisions. The MIS Apprentice role is designed for recent graduates who are eager to dive into the world of data‑driven compliance reporting. Reporting to the AML Compliance team, the apprentice will assist in building, maintaining, and delivering critical management information systems (MIS) that help monitor anti‑money‑laundering activities. This is a hybrid position, allowing you to work from the modern AMEX campus in Gurgaon while also enjoying the flexibility of remote days. Key responsibilities include: 1. Preparing weekly, monthly and ad‑hoc MIS reports for senior stakeholders. 2. Designing and updating performance scorecards and interactive dashboards. 3. Automating repetitive reporting tasks using Excel macros, Power Query, or scripting. 4. Extracting, cleaning, and validating data from multiple internal sources such as SQL databases and data warehouses. 5. Collaborating with business partners to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 6. Leading or participating in reporting review meetings, presenting insights and recommendations. 7. Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of all reporting artefacts. 8. Continuously improving reporting processes, data quality, and documentation. 9. Supporting the AML team with data‑driven insights for risk mitigation. 10. Staying updated with the latest compliance regulations and industry best practices. The tech stack for this role primarily includes Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, Power Query), SQL for data extraction, and exposure to Business Intelligence tools like Power BI or Tableau for visualization. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential. Growth path: Successful apprentices can transition to full‑time Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or Compliance Reporting Specialist roles, with opportunities to lead larger analytics projects, obtain certifications (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau), and eventually move into senior management positions within the risk and compliance domain. Why join American Express? The brand’s reputation for excellence, a supportive learning environment, and a clear focus on employee well‑being make it an ideal launchpad for a career in analytics and compliance. You’ll gain exposure to global best practices, work alongside seasoned professionals, and contribute to safeguarding the financial ecosystem.
