Citi is one of the world’s leading financial institutions, operating in more than 160 countries with a workforce of over 230,000 professionals. The bank offers a full spectrum of services ranging from consumer banking and credit cards to corporate and investment banking, treasury, and wealth management. Citi’s culture is built on diversity, inclusion and a commitment to sustainable growth, giving employees the chance to work on high‑impact projects that shape global economies. The organization invests heavily in learning platforms, mentorship programmes and well‑being initiatives, ensuring that every associate can develop both professionally and personally.
The Tax Junior Analyst role is an entry‑level position designed for fresh graduates who want to start a career in tax compliance, reporting and advisory within a global banking environment. Reporting to senior tax professionals, the analyst will gain exposure to multi‑jurisdictional tax regulations, internal control frameworks and the technology platforms that drive Citi’s tax function. This role blends analytical rigor with process improvement, offering a solid foundation for a long‑term career in finance.
Key responsibilities:
1. Manage day‑to‑day tax liabilities, ensuring accurate compliance, financial reporting, planning and controversy handling.
2. Contribute to the preparation, filing and reporting of corporate tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
3. Assist in gathering and validating data required for income‑tax filings and related statutory requirements.
4. Support payment processing to tax authorities in line with local regulations.
5. Lead small to medium‑sized finance operational teams, delegating tasks and reviewing deliverables.
6. Advise business units on tax procedures, policies and technical concepts.
7. Identify and implement process‑efficiency improvements within the tax function.
8. Perform control compliance testing for Tax Information Reporting (TIR) and upload results to Citi’s Enterprise Risk Management system.
9. Participate in risk‑mitigation activities, reviewing large data sets for red‑flag anomalies.
10. Support standardisation, consolidation and change‑control initiatives across the tax control environment.
Tech stack: Advanced Excel, SAP Tax, Oracle Financials, Citi’s internal risk‑management portal, data‑visualisation tools (Power BI/Tableau) and basic scripting (Python/R) for data analysis.
Growth path: Tax Junior Analyst → Tax Analyst → Senior Tax Analyst → Tax Manager → Tax Director, with opportunities to move into broader finance or regulatory roles across the bank.
Why join Citi: You will work in a globally recognised bank that offers unparalleled exposure to complex tax structures, a structured learning journey, mentorship from senior tax leaders and a supportive culture that values work‑life balance and employee well‑being.
