📋 About the Role
Hitachi Energy is a global leader in power and energy solutions, formed as a joint venture between Hitachi Ltd. and ABB. With a presence in more than 90 countries, the company delivers innovative technologies for grids, renewable integration, and industrial applications. In India, Hitachi Energy operates cutting‑edge manufacturing facilities that produce high‑voltage equipment, transformers, and smart grid components, contributing to the nation’s energy transition and infrastructure growth. The organization is known for its strong safety culture, commitment to sustainability, and a collaborative work environment that encourages continuous learning.
The Production Engineer role at the Savli, Gujarat plant is an entry‑level, on‑site position designed for fresh engineering graduates eager to dive into manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Production Manager, the engineer will be responsible for planning, monitoring, and optimizing production activities across the entire line—from raw material receipt to final dispatch. The role blends hands‑on shop‑floor management with data‑driven process improvement, ensuring that targets for quality, safety, cost, and delivery are consistently met.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules in coordination with planning and supply‑chain teams.
2. Monitor real‑time shop‑floor performance, track KPIs such as OEE, yield, and throughput, and take corrective actions when deviations occur.
3. Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and quality standards, conducting regular audits and in‑process inspections.
4. Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives using 6S, Lean, Six Sigma, and Value Stream Mapping to eliminate waste and boost efficiency.
5. Liaise with purchasing and stores to guarantee timely availability of raw materials and components.
6. Support skill certification and training programs for production staff, fostering a culture of competence and accountability.
7. Prepare and present production reports, variance analyses, and improvement proposals to senior management.
8. Manage minor maintenance issues, coordinate with the maintenance team, and ensure equipment uptime.
9. Participate in root‑cause investigations for non‑conformances and implement corrective‑preventive actions.
10. Oversee packing, labeling, and dispatch processes to ensure on‑time delivery to customers.
Technical stack: SAP ERP for material and production planning, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting, and industry‑standard Lean and Six Sigma tools for process analysis. Familiarity with production planning software and basic statistical analysis is advantageous.
Growth path: Starting as a Production Engineer, high performers can progress to Senior Production Engineer, Production Supervisor, and eventually Production Manager or Plant Operations Manager, with opportunities to move into project engineering, quality leadership, or supply‑chain roles across Hitachi Energy’s global network.
Why join Hitachi Energy? The company offers exposure to world‑class manufacturing technologies, a strong emphasis on safety and sustainability, and a supportive environment that nurtures technical and leadership skills. Fresh graduates gain hands‑on experience in a fast‑growing sector, access to continuous learning programs, and the chance to contribute to critical energy infrastructure projects that shape the future of power.
