📋 About the Role
takeUforward is a fast‑growing technology startup focused on building a community‑driven mobile platform that currently serves over 1.5 million active users across India. The company’s mission is to empower users with seamless, data‑rich experiences that simplify everyday tasks, ranging from social interaction to utility services. Backed by seasoned entrepreneurs and a strong engineering core, takeUforward has cultivated a culture of rapid iteration, data‑driven decision making, and user‑first product design. The team works in a collaborative environment where fresh ideas are encouraged, and interns are treated as full contributors rather than peripheral observers.
The SWE Intern (iOS / Android) role is a six‑month, on‑site internship running from mid‑May to mid‑December. It is designed for third‑ or fourth‑year engineering students whose curriculum mandates a summer internship. Interns will join the in‑house mobile engineering squad and will be entrusted with real‑world responsibilities, from feature development to bug fixing, impacting a user base of more than 1.5 million. This is not a shadowing position; the intern will ship code, participate in code reviews, and see their work live in the production app.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate requirements into functional mobile features.
2. Develop new screens and modules using native iOS (Swift/Objective‑C) or Android (Kotlin/Java) frameworks.
3. Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code adhering to the team’s coding standards.
4. Perform unit testing, UI testing, and assist in integration testing to ensure high quality releases.
5. Participate in sprint planning, stand‑ups, and retrospectives, gaining exposure to Agile methodologies.
6. Debug and resolve performance bottlenecks, crashes, and UI inconsistencies.
7. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the app’s architecture and codebase.
8. Work closely with the backend team to integrate APIs and handle data synchronization.
9. Document technical decisions and create knowledge‑sharing sessions for the broader team.
10. Stay updated with the latest mobile development trends and propose innovative solutions.
The tech stack primarily includes Swift, Kotlin, Android Jetpack, iOS UIKit/SwiftUI, RESTful APIs, Git, and CI/CD pipelines. Interns will also get exposure to analytics tools and AI‑driven features that the product leverages. The internship offers a stipend of ₹40,000–₹45,000 per month, flight reimbursements, and AI subscription reimbursements. High‑performing interns may be considered for a performance‑based pre‑placement offer (PPO). This role provides a unique platform to build a portfolio‑grade mobile product, learn from seasoned engineers, and potentially secure a full‑time role post‑graduation.
