You will be responsible for safeguarding the platform against financial crime by conducting thorough Customer Due Diligence (CDD), assessing merchant risk, and monitoring transactions for suspicious activity. The position blends analytical rigor with stakeholder communication, requiring you to work closely with product, operations and legal teams to ensure that every merchant onboarding meets the highest standards of AML, sanctions and fraud control. Key responsibilities include: 1. Perform initial and ongoing CDD for new and existing merchants. 2. Conduct website and business‑model assessments to validate risk profiles. 3. Execute transaction monitoring and flag suspicious patterns for investigation. 4. Carry out enhanced due diligence (EDD) and sanctions screening using tools like Dow Jones and LexisNexis. 5. Manage escalation queues, resolving complex or exception cases from operations. 6. Lead quality‑control checks across investigation types, including SAR filing. 7. Contribute to process‑improvement initiatives and document best‑practice workflows. 8. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on AML policies, fraud‑control frameworks and risk categorisation. 9. Maintain accurate records and generate compliance reports for internal and regulator review. 10. Communicate findings clearly to cross‑functional stakeholders and senior leadership. Tech stack exposure includes Razorpay’s internal risk‑management platform, Freshdesk for ticketing, and screening APIs from Dow Jones and LexisNexis. Familiarity with SQL for data extraction and basic scripting (Python) for automation is advantageous.
