A major focus will be improving the efficiency of testing through automation. This means identifying repetitive manual processes, determining which activities can be automated, and developing reliable solutions that can execute tests consistently. You will also work with test data and test environments. Automated testing is only effective when the required data and environments are available and configured correctly, so environment and test-data automation are important parts of the position. The role also involves exposure to modern engineering practices including Agile, DevOps, and containerization. You will design and implement automated testing solutions for IT systems and applications, develop automation that streamlines software testing processes, create optimized test scenarios using appropriate test automation tools and technologies, and develop automation for executing software tests with minimal manual intervention. You will maintain and improve existing automated testing solutions, automate test data management processes to support reliable test execution, develop automation for test environment setup and management, integrate testing automation into broader delivery automation workflows, and support software delivery processes using modern Agile and DevOps practices. You will work with container-based environments and understand their role in automated testing, improve testing efficiency through optimization and automation, and collaborate with development and delivery teams to integrate quality engineering into the software lifecycle. You will minimize manual testing effort through reliable and maintainable automation, and develop automation solutions that reduce manual testing effort while improving testing efficiency and software quality. You will also be expected to analyze an existing testing process and determine how it can be improved through automation, and consider whether the test is stable, reusable, maintainable, and suitable for integration into a delivery pipeline. Experience with different test automation tools is therefore useful, but candidates should also demonstrate an understanding of automation architecture, test optimization, maintainability, and continuous delivery.
