Notion Press is a Chennai-based self-publishing platform, founded in 2012, that helps authors turn their ideas into published books. We handle design, printing, eBooks, and distribution to readers in over 150 countries, all powered by our own technology. Our mission is simple: share stories, spread ideas, change the world. We're looking for a curious and careful Junior Engineer to join our team. Writing code is the easy part now. Almost anyone with an AI assistant can do it. We're hiring for the person behind it: someone who can build features, test them like they're trying to break them, and wire up AI agents to take manual work off our plate. As a Junior Engineer at Notion Press, you'll be responsible for building and shipping features across our stack, using AI coding tools well. You'll build and wire up AI agents to automate real Notion Press workflows. You'll tune what you build: write quick evals, spot where an agent breaks, and tighten prompts and tools. You'll test adversarially, and automate the repetitive stuff. We're looking for someone with solid fundamentals in Python/PHP and JavaScript/TypeScript. You should have a basic working knowledge of SQL and databases. Fluency with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) and the judgment to know when their output is wrong is a must. You should have two or more real things you've built that you can show us, ideally including AI agents you can walk us through. Hands-on with an agent SDK or framework: Claude Agent SDK, OpenAI Agents SDK, LangGraph, CrewAI, or n8n is a plus. A feel for tuning agents: prompt design, tool calling, and simple evals is essential. A tester's instinct and a habit of automating boring work is a must.
