📋 About the Role
Apple is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity. We seek to promote equal opportunity for all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, Veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics. Learn more about your EEO rights as an applicant.
The Insight team runs one of Apple's most critical Big Data ecosystems — an exabyte-scale, highly-available infrastructure that underpins manufacturing operations for every Apple product, globally. Every iPhone, iPad, and Mac has touched our systems.
We advance technology by relying on each other's strengths and skills to build something bigger than ourselves. For this reason, team culture is central to our values. We value social skills and integrity as much as technical craft.
We are looking for an experienced full-stack engineer who is equally comfortable building polished frontend experiences and rock-solid, high-throughput backend services. You'll help shape the systems and interfaces our global manufacturing engineering teams rely on every day.
As a Software Development Engineer at Apple, you will design, build, and operate full-stack features and distributed backend services within a very large-scale, highly available Big Data ecosystem supporting exabyte-level data with sustained, rapid growth. You will design, build, and operate full-stack features spanning modern frontends (React, Next.js, TypeScript) and backend microservices using Java or other languages common in today's microservices ecosystem (Kotlin, Go, C#/.NET, Node.js/TypeScript, or Rust).
You will build and operate high-throughput, low-latency distributed services with tight SLA requirements as part of the Insight Big Data ecosystem. You will design and implement scalable backend services using Java, Python, Golang, or Scala. You will work with big data technologies such as Kafka, AWS S3, Apache Iceberg, Parquet, Avro, and Druid to build and operate resilient data pipelines and services.
You will deploy and operate services in container-orchestrated, large-scale cloud environments (e.g., Kubernetes). You will design efficient relational data models and write high-performance SQL — including ER diagram design, complex joins, indexing strategies, and query optimization — to support large-scale reporting and analytics workloads.
You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams across Apple's global manufacturing services, communicating effectively across time zones and cultures.
At Apple, we believe accessibility is a fundamental human right. You’ll find that idea reflected in everything here — in our culture, our benefits and our digital tools. By welcoming as many perspectives as possible, we help you build a career where you feel like you belong.
Learn about accessibility in Apple’s workplace.
As a Software Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the development of innovative products. You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team that is passionate about building high-quality software.
You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from building new features to improving existing ones. You will be encouraged to take ownership of your work and to suggest new ideas and approaches.
You will also have access to a range of training and development opportunities, including workshops, conferences, and online courses. You will be able to work with a diverse team of engineers and developers, and you will have the opportunity to mentor and be mentored by more experienced colleagues.
Overall, as a Software Development Engineer at Apple, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects, to contribute to the development of innovative products, and to build a rewarding and challenging career.
