In India, Microsoft operates large development and research centers that drive innovation in AI, cloud computing, security, and productivity tools. The company’s culture is built around a growth mindset, encouraging employees to learn continuously, collaborate across borders, and contribute to products that impact billions of users worldwide. With a strong emphasis on inclusion, integrity, and accountability, Microsoft offers a supportive environment where engineers can experiment, fail fast, and iterate toward breakthrough solutions.
The Audit Ingestion team within Microsoft Azure is tasked with building and operating massive distributed systems that collect, process, and store audit and compliance data from all Microsoft cloud services. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend services and data pipelines that form the backbone of Microsoft’s compliance platform. You will work on end‑to‑end solutions that ingest terabytes of telemetry daily, ensure data reliability across regions, and provide observability for downstream security and analytics teams. The role demands a strong ownership mindset, as you will be involved in live‑site operations, incident response, and continuous improvement of service reliability.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Own the design, development, and operation of ingestion, processing, storage, and movement components for large‑scale audit data.
2. Build resilient, multi‑region services on Azure that meet strict compliance and latency requirements.
3. Implement automation, monitoring, and alerting to improve reliability and reduce manual toil.
4. Participate in on‑call rotations, troubleshoot production incidents, and drive root‑cause analysis.
5. Collaborate with cross‑functional platform teams to modernize data pipelines and adopt newer cloud technologies.
6. Optimize performance and cost of data processing workloads using stream processing frameworks.
7. Contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and documentation to ensure high code quality.
8. Mentor junior engineers and share best practices around distributed systems and observability.
9. Stay updated with security and regulatory changes to ensure the platform remains compliant.
10. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as chaos engineering experiments and capacity planning.
**Tech Stack**: C#, Java, Python, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, Cosmos DB, SQL Server, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Prometheus/Grafana, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps), Git.
**Growth Path**: Starting as a Software Engineer, you can progress to Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer, or move into specialized roles such as Cloud Architect, Site Reliability Engineer, or Product Manager within the Azure ecosystem. Microsoft’s internal mobility program encourages lateral moves across product groups, enabling you to broaden your expertise.
**Why Join Microsoft?**
- Work on mission‑critical systems that protect data for millions of enterprises worldwide.
- Access to world‑class learning resources, mentorship, and a culture that rewards innovation.
- Competitive compensation, generous stock awards, and comprehensive benefits.
- Opportunity to collaborate with top talent across the globe and shape the future of cloud compliance.
- Strong emphasis on work‑life balance, flexible work arrangements, and employee well‑being.
