📋 About the Role
Volvo Group, a global leader in transport solutions, has a long-standing reputation for engineering excellence, sustainability and safety. Through its Trucks Technology & Industrial Division, the company designs and manufactures heavy‑duty trucks, buses and related services that move goods and people across continents. The group’s commitment to innovation is reflected in its massive investment in digital transformation, data‑driven decision making and next‑generation mobility platforms. As part of its corporate social responsibility, Volvo partners with the Government of India’s National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) to nurture fresh engineering talent, offering a one‑year, hands‑on apprenticeship that blends classroom learning with real‑world projects.
The Graduate Apprentice Trainee role sits at the intersection of business analysis and digital transformation. Reporting to the People & Culture department and working closely with operational teams in Hosakote, the apprentice will support the automation of manual processes, develop data‑centric solutions and help the organization make evidence‑based decisions. The position is ideal for recent engineering graduates who are eager to apply analytical skills, learn industry‑standard tools, and contribute to sustainable transport initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Collecting, cleaning and structuring data from multiple internal applications.
2. Visualising data using Microsoft Excel, Power BI or Tableau to highlight trends and insights.
3. Building and maintaining standardised reports and dashboards for cross‑functional stakeholders.
4. Performing statistical analysis and predictive modelling on large data sets.
5. Identifying process inefficiencies and recommending automation opportunities.
6. Collaborating with solution experts from Volvo Group to align analytical outputs with business objectives.
7. Documenting data pipelines, methodologies and best practices for future reference.
8. Supporting ad‑hoc data requests from operational and senior management teams.
9. Participating in knowledge‑sharing sessions and continuous learning programmes.
10. Assisting in the preparation of presentations that communicate findings to non‑technical audiences.
The technical stack for this apprenticeship primarily includes Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables), Power BI/Tableau for visualisation, basic SQL for data extraction, and introductory statistical tools (R or Python libraries). While deep programming expertise is not mandatory, a willingness to upskill in data science concepts is essential.
Growth path: Successful apprentices can transition into full‑time Business Analyst or Data Analyst roles within Volvo Group, with opportunities to specialise in advanced analytics, machine learning, or process automation. The apprenticeship also serves as a springboard for certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Tableau Desktop Specialist.
Why join? Apart from gaining exposure to a world‑class automotive brand, apprentices benefit from mentorship by senior engineers, a collaborative culture that values innovation, and a clear roadmap toward a permanent career in data‑driven decision making. The program also offers a modest stipend, flexible working hours and the chance to contribute to projects that directly impact sustainable transport solutions for India and beyond.
