The role of Analyst – Data Governance is a foundational position within KPMG’s Data & Analytics practice. As a Data Governance Analyst, you will work closely with senior consultants and client stakeholders to design, implement and monitor data governance frameworks that ensure data quality, compliance and usability across the organization. You will be exposed to industry‑leading tools such as Informatica Data Governance (DSG), and will contribute to building policies, standards and processes that safeguard critical data assets. Key responsibilities include: 1. Assisting in the creation of data governance policies, data ownership models and data stewardship frameworks. 2. Conducting data quality assessments and profiling to identify gaps and recommend remediation actions. 3. Supporting the implementation of Informatica DSG modules for metadata management, data lineage and data cataloguing. 4. Collaborating with business users to define data definitions, business rules and validation criteria. 5. Preparing governance dashboards and reports to track compliance metrics and data health. 6. Participating in data classification, data privacy and regulatory compliance initiatives (e.g., GDPR, RBI guidelines). 7. Documenting processes, creating SOPs and delivering training sessions for data stewards. 8. Assisting in the development of data catalogues and data dictionaries using tools like Collibra or Alation. 9. Performing ad‑hoc data analysis using SQL, Python or Excel to support governance decisions. 10. Contributing to continuous improvement by identifying automation opportunities within governance workflows. Tech Stack: Informatica Data Governance (DSG), SQL, Python/R for data profiling, Tableau/Power BI for reporting, Microsoft Excel, data catalog tools (Collibra/Alation), basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) is a plus. Growth Path: Starting as an Analyst, you can progress to Senior Analyst, then to Manager, Senior Manager and eventually Director/Partner, with increasing responsibility for client engagements, solution design and people leadership.
