📋 About the Role
Google, a global technology leader, has built its reputation on innovative products that touch billions of lives daily. From search and advertising to cloud services, Android, and hardware like Pixel phones and Nest devices, the company continuously pushes the boundaries of what is possible. In India, Google operates multiple engineering hubs across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and impact. Employees enjoy access to cutting‑edge tools, mentorship from world‑class engineers, and the freedom to experiment on projects that shape the future of consumer and enterprise technology.
The Silicon Engineer – Platform and Devices role is designed for fresh graduates of the 2026 batch who are passionate about hardware design and eager to contribute to Google’s next generation of silicon‑based products. As a member of the Platform and Devices team, you will work on the full lifecycle of System‑on‑Chip (SoC) and ASIC development, from architectural planning and RTL coding to verification, physical implementation, and power‑performance optimization. You will collaborate closely with software, firmware, and product teams to ensure that Google’s hardware delivers the seamless experience users expect.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop RTL modules using Verilog/SystemVerilog for Google‑owned silicon platforms.
2. Perform functional verification, create testbenches, and run simulation campaigns to validate design correctness.
3. Participate in physical design activities, including floorplanning, placement, routing, and timing closure.
4. Apply Design‑for‑Test (DFT) techniques to improve testability and yield.
5. Optimize power consumption and performance through architectural trade‑offs and low‑power design strategies.
6. Automate design flows using scripting languages (Python/C++) to improve productivity.
7. Conduct design reviews, debug silicon issues, and work with cross‑functional teams to resolve integration challenges.
8. Contribute to documentation, specifications, and knowledge‑sharing sessions within the team.
9. Stay updated with emerging hardware technologies and propose innovative solutions for future products.
10. Support post‑silicon validation and bring‑up activities for prototype silicon.
Tech Stack: C/C++, Python, Verilog/SystemVerilog, Synopsys/Cadence EDA tools, Linux, Git, scripting for flow automation, and familiarity with computer architecture concepts.
Growth Path: Starting as a Junior Silicon Engineer, you can progress to Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, and eventually Principal Engineer or Architecture Lead, with opportunities to move into hardware program management or research roles.
Why Join Google: You will be part of a world‑renowned brand that invests heavily in R&D, offers unparalleled learning resources, and provides a platform to work on products that reach millions. The company’s inclusive culture, generous compensation, and focus on work‑life balance make it an ideal place for fresh talent to launch a rewarding hardware engineering career.
