You will work closely with portfolio managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate complex financial requirements into scalable technical solutions. The position offers a blend of backend development with occasional front‑end contributions, providing a holistic view of the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Python.
2. Build and optimise data‑processing workflows for structured and unstructured data.
3. Contribute to full‑stack applications, focusing primarily on server‑side logic while supporting limited React front‑end tasks.
4. Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, document use cases, and deliver technical solutions.
5. Perform root‑cause analysis on technical and data‑related issues and propose scalable fixes.
6. Develop automated test scripts and reusable validation frameworks to ensure high quality releases.
7. Monitor application performance, diagnose incidents, and recommend reliability improvements.
8. Utilise version control (Git) and defect‑tracking tools to support collaborative development.
9. Participate in code reviews, knowledge‑sharing sessions, and continuous‑integration pipelines.
10. Stay updated on emerging technologies such as AI/ML and explore their applicability to portfolio analytics.
Tech Stack: Python, SQL, REST APIs, Git, Selenium (or similar), React (basic), Java (optional), data pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), CI/CD tools.
Growth Path: BlackRock offers a clearly defined career ladder – Engineer I (Analyst) → Engineer II/III (Associate) → Senior Engineer → Lead Engineer → Engineering Manager → Director. The firm encourages vertical advancement as well as lateral moves into data science, product management, or client‑facing roles, supported by mentorship programs and tuition reimbursement.
Why Join BlackRock? You will be part of a global leader that blends finance with technology, giving you exposure to high‑impact projects that influence billions of dollars of investment decisions. The hybrid work model balances in‑office collaboration with flexibility, while comprehensive benefits—including retirement plans, health coverage, parental leave, and Flexible Time Off—ensure a supportive work‑life balance.
