📋 About the Role
The National e‑Governance Division (NeGD) operates under the Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and is a pivotal agency driving e‑governance initiatives across central and state governments. With a portfolio that includes flagship platforms such as DigiLocker, UMANG, Poshan Tracker, OpenForge, API Setu, and the National Academic Depository, NeGD has established itself as a technology‑enabled catalyst for digital transformation in India. The division’s mission is to provide digital infrastructure as a utility, ensuring that governance services are available on demand, accessible to every citizen, and aligned with the broader Digital India vision.
As a Business Analyst on a contractual basis, you will be at the heart of project delivery, bridging the gap between government stakeholders and technical teams. You will own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of multiple initiatives, from gathering requirements and drafting detailed documentation to supporting testing, deployment, and post‑implementation monitoring. This role offers a unique exposure to large‑scale public sector projects, where adherence to stringent security, accessibility, and interoperability standards is mandatory.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Supporting the complete project lifecycle – planning, requirement analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and post‑implementation support.
2. Conducting requirement‑gathering workshops with various government departments, agencies, and implementation partners.
3. Preparing and managing Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS), process flows, and use‑case diagrams.
4. Mapping and documenting end‑to‑end business processes to ensure standardisation, efficiency, and interoperability.
5. Coordinating with technical teams on system architecture, API‑driven integrations, and micro‑services based solutions.
6. Ensuring compliance with Government of India guidelines such as GIGW 3.0, WCAG 2.1, CERT‑In, and MeitY standards.
7. Collaborating with UI/UX designers to create user‑friendly, accessible interfaces.
8. Facilitating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by preparing test cases, validation checklists, and capturing stakeholder feedback.
9. Preparing project status dashboards, KPI monitoring frameworks, and regular governance reports.
10. Assisting in capacity‑building activities, training documentation, and SOP preparation for end‑user adoption.
Tech Stack & Tools: The role will involve working with requirement‑management tools (Jira, Confluence), diagramming software (Visio, Lucidchart), API testing tools (Postman), and familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) used by NeGD for hosting micro‑services. Knowledge of data standards, JSON/XML, and basic SQL is advantageous.
Growth Path: Starting as a contractual Business Analyst, high performers can transition to permanent roles within NeGD or other Digital India projects, moving towards Senior Analyst, Project Manager, or Programme Lead positions. The exposure to multi‑agency projects and government‑grade compliance frameworks accelerates career growth in the public‑sector technology space.
Why Join NeGD? You will contribute directly to nation‑building initiatives, work with cutting‑edge digital platforms that impact millions of citizens, and gain experience in a highly regulated, mission‑driven environment. The collaborative culture, emphasis on continuous learning, and the opportunity to interact with senior policymakers make NeGD an attractive launchpad for ambitious freshers.
