📋 About the Role
Tata Group, one of India’s most respected conglomerates, operates across six continents with a presence in more than 100 countries. With a revenue of $128 billion in FY 2021‑22 and a workforce of over 935,000, the group spans sectors such as automotive, steel, IT services, telecommunications, hospitality and more. The Tata ethos is built around ‘Leadership with Trust’ and a commitment to improving the quality of life for communities worldwide. Its subsidiaries, including Tata Insights and Quants (Tata iQ), are at the forefront of data‑driven decision making, helping businesses turn raw data into actionable insights.
The Data Visualisation role is a short‑term, self‑paced micro‑internship designed to give fresh graduates a realistic glimpse into the day‑to‑day work of Tata iQ’s analytics team. Participants will work on simulated business problems that require the creation of compelling visual stories using tools like Tableau and Power BI. The simulation runs for 3‑4 hours, allowing candidates to showcase their analytical thinking, design sensibility and communication skills while building a portfolio piece that can be highlighted in job applications to Tata and other leading firms.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Understand business requirements and translate them into visual analytics objectives.
2. Clean, transform and prepare raw datasets for visualization.
3. Develop interactive dashboards using Tableau and Power BI.
4. Apply best practices in data storytelling to highlight trends, outliers and insights.
5. Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover hidden patterns.
6. Validate visual outputs against source data for accuracy.
7. Document methodology, assumptions and data sources.
8. Present findings to a mock stakeholder audience with clear, concise narration.
9. Incorporate feedback and iterate on dashboard designs.
10. Maintain version control of visual assets and related scripts.
Tech Stack: Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, SQL basics, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Python (optional for data cleaning), and cloud storage platforms.
Growth Path: Successful completion can lead to full‑time analyst or associate roles within Tata iQ or other Tata subsidiaries, with clear progression from Junior Analyst → Analyst → Senior Analyst → Data Science Lead. The exposure to real‑world data problems also strengthens candidacy for roles in consulting, product analytics and business intelligence across the industry.
Why Join Tata Group? Tata’s legacy of ethical leadership, robust mentorship programs and global exposure makes it an ideal launchpad for fresh talent. Interns gain hands‑on experience with industry‑standard tools, receive feedback from seasoned data scientists, and become part of a network that values continuous learning and societal impact.
