📋 About the Role
GE HealthCare is a world‑leading medical‑technology and digital‑solutions company that operates in more than 140 countries. With a legacy of over a century in healthcare innovation, GE HealthCare designs, manufactures, and services advanced imaging, monitoring, and diagnostic equipment that help clinicians deliver better patient outcomes. The company’s mission – to create a world where healthcare has no limits – drives a culture of relentless innovation, collaboration, and a deep commitment to quality and safety. In India, GE HealthCare has a strong presence in Bengaluru, where it houses research, development, and commercial teams that work closely with hospitals, diagnostic centres, and regulatory bodies.
The Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) role is positioned within the Post‑Market Surveillance (PMS) team, a critical function that monitors the performance of GE HealthCare products after they are installed in the field. As a GET, you will be immersed in a regulated medical‑device environment, learning how to capture, assess, and close customer complaints while ensuring compliance with global quality and regulatory standards. This role offers a unique blend of hands‑on exposure to real‑world product issues, cross‑functional collaboration, and structured training that prepares you for a long‑term career in medical‑device quality, regulatory affairs, or product engineering.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Review and log customer complaints received from hospitals, diagnostic centres, and other end‑users in accordance with SOPs.
2. Document complaint details accurately in the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure traceability.
3. Perform preliminary assessment of complaints to categorize severity and potential impact on patient safety.
4. Liaise with Quality, Regulatory, and Technical teams to gather additional data, test reports, and root‑cause analysis.
5. Support the preparation of complaint investigation reports and closure documentation.
6. Participate in cross‑functional meetings to discuss trending issues and corrective actions.
7. Follow established QMS procedures, maintain audit‑ready records, and contribute to internal audits.
8. Attend structured technical and professional training modules on medical‑device regulations (ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820) and GE’s internal quality processes.
9. Communicate findings and status updates to global stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
10. Continuously improve personal knowledge of GE HealthCare product portfolios and emerging regulatory requirements.
The role does not demand a specific programming stack, but familiarity with MS Office, basic data‑analysis tools, and an understanding of quality management software (e.g., SAP QM, TrackWise) is beneficial. Over time, successful trainees can progress to roles such as Quality Engineer, Regulatory Affairs Specialist, or Product Reliability Engineer, with opportunities to lead larger investigations, manage compliance projects, and influence product design improvements.
Why join GE HealthCare? You will work for a globally recognised brand that invests heavily in employee development, offers exposure to cutting‑edge medical technology, and provides a clear career ladder within a highly regulated industry. The collaborative environment, mentorship from seasoned professionals, and the chance to impact patient safety worldwide make this an attractive launchpad for engineering graduates.
