Hitachi Energy is a global leader in electrification, delivering mission‑critical technologies that power the world’s electricity grid. With a heritage spanning more than a century, the company combines the engineering excellence of Hitachi with a deep focus on sustainable energy solutions. Headquartered in Switzerland, Hitachi Energy operates in over 140 countries, employs more than 56,000 professionals, and generates roughly $20 billion in revenue. In India, the organization is expanding its footprint across power, rail, data‑center and industrial sectors, offering fresh graduates a platform to work on cutting‑edge projects that shape the future of energy.
The role of Associate Project Engineer – Cyber Security is positioned within the Mission Critical Telecommunication Solutions (MCS) team. As a technical marketing engineer, you will bridge the gap between global product strategy and regional sales, ensuring that the HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) cyber‑security solutions meet market demands. You will be directly involved in designing secure SCADA architectures, testing cyber‑security functions, and collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders to harden the security posture of HVDC projects.
Key responsibilities include: adapting HVDC cyber‑security for SCADA & HMI; developing architecture and functional descriptions for future HVDC cyber‑security solutions; preparing and executing test case scenarios and supporting functional safety testing; coordinating with business units to optimise cyber‑security features; designing secured network architectures with advanced threat‑prevention capabilities; evaluating and strengthening connections to the SCADA network; monitoring third‑party security patches and implementing vendor security features; establishing controls over back‑door access points and deploying intrusion detection systems; conducting technical audits of SCADA devices and networks; performing physical security surveys of remote sites; maintaining test environments with up‑to‑date software and hardware; handling backup, imaging and patch management; ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.
The tech stack revolves around networking protocols (TCP/IP, IEC 61850), SCADA platforms, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and basic programming in C/C++. Knowledge of IEEE/IEC standards, anti‑virus solutions and MS Office is essential. The role offers a clear growth path: after gaining hands‑on experience, you can progress to Senior Project Engineer, then to Lead Engineer or Solution Architect within the cyber‑security domain, eventually moving into product management or R&D leadership.
Why join Hitachi Energy? You will work on high‑impact, globally visible projects that protect critical infrastructure, receive mentorship from industry veterans, and benefit from a culture that values safety, integrity and continuous learning. The company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation ensures that your work contributes to a greener, more secure energy future.
